:jumps into flame suite:

i have a blitz turbo controller and greddy turbo guages -

my question is why does it read a negative psi, BAR, etc when im completely off boost?

also why can it be at 0 when the turbo is obviously spooling and making power?

im a n00b to forced induction - throw me a freakin bone

just trying to learn

you are under vacuum when not boosting, and when it is at zero you are building boost...

When you are at WOT (wide open throttle) what does your boost gauge read?

When you are just coasting around with very little throttle input you will be in vacuum because the turbo's aren't getting enough exhaust gas to spool them up. So it's just like your car was N/A, and you will be in vacuum. Once you start giving it more throttle input your turbo will spool faster until you go from high vacuum to low vacuum then eventually you start making boost (positive pressure aka. opposite of vacuum).

when you aren't boosting... like an N/A car.. it will run about the same vacuum. The only difference is the turbo spools, and it creates positive pressure (boost). Like you can pull the inlet pipe off a honda and run it right off the TB, and you will get the same vacuum reading as if you had it connected to the turbo..

ok thanks guys - ay WOT the guage reads .5 (BAR i believe) its 7 psi- it says 7psi on my blitz turbo controller (SBC-ID)

Ok, just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong. But yah, the opposite of boost is vacuum. When you're not boosting (ie coasting, shifting) you'll be in vacuum.

No, it's not spinning backwards...it's just not spinning fast enough to pressurize the air.

haha, yea it spins back wards, and puses air out the filter back into the atmosphere.
