if this is true then this makes sense now as to how the stock ecu can interprit the signal from the msd hall-effect. The hall effect just gives a digital 0 1 ( as the magnetic field contracts and expands) signal and since the computer is programed to look for 0v and ignore everything else in between it all works out. For people who will use a scope please do so on all three pickups. let us know what you find out. </TD></TR></TABLE>

I'm sure it is true. Dave knows what hes talking about. He basically invented the free engine management software that is so popular right now.

well, it definitely looks like a hall sensor setup, but looks like typical msd quality. It'll be interesting to see how they hold up.

Looks like 3 hall sensors.

One for RPM
One for Sync
One for something else I can't tell

Besides the fact that it looks like an 8 year old encapsulated/podded it.... it doesn't look that bad.

Has anyone else had an issue with the o-ring around where it goes inside the head/cam area?

My o-ring doesn't rise above the base of it and therefore isn't sealing worth a day. So i keep having oil run down my head and tranny looking like my headgasket is seeping but i keep finding oil on the coolant plugs under the dizzy.

Anyone else having this issue?

Just take the O-ring to Napa and get a fatter one of the same diameter dude. It will cost you less than 50 cents and fix your leak. Or better yet try the O-ring off the OEM distributor. It has to be the same diameter.

Thats why theres no O-ring on the cap. Moisture isnt a problem when all contact surfaces are encapsulated.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with the quality. Infact, it looks great. I just hope they can hold up long term.

I used the one off a OEM dizzy and even went to honda and bought a new o-ring for it. this is why i know that its not the same diameter, because the o-ring doesn't rise above the metal groove. it looks like MSD cut the groove a bit deeper than honda, hence why it doesn't work. But speeddreamz just let me know that he happens to have a few extra o-rings that he got from MSD that he's going to send me, so should work out at the end of the day

I see many bare terminals and leads.... there is no way that is sealed from the environment.

Good deal.... but this should not even be a problem. I wonder how thorough their testing was on this unit? Makes we wonder why Tony1 has been calling their stuff crap all this time.

well looks like MSD may have a different o-ring they used, which explains the leak. plus I bought my MSd from speeddreamz.com. he actually has MSD install the dizzy on his car in the first place, so i assume its one of their test units, so mine could be different than the masses as well.

I don't know how many electronics pieces you've seen, but probably not too many. I think tepid was about right when he said it looks like an 8 year old built it. But hey, if it works then it's fine. My only question is how long is it going to work.

The only problem that I would of done differently would be where they have the Hall switch's mounted. That circuit board is not the stablest mounting point, they definitly could of came up with something a little more solid.

I was going to buy the msd dist but I end up getting M&W to be on the safe side.

You do get what u pay for. MSD dist is prettey inexpensive compare to M&W with stock dist.

K.I.S.S right? hehe. The longevity issue is also my main concern.

so who is going to be the first to copy this board?

Maybe externally mounted with remote hall sensors in the dist?
