mod my head or do ls/vtec...more to the situation...
i've only been boosting about a month now and i already have a slight problem. I recently did another compression test on my ls and it came up 125, 170, 170, 165. I havn't been pinging the rev limiter but i'm sure my friends have so i'm guessing i probably have a bent valve. I figure if i'm gonna fix that and if the head is already off, should i just do a ls/vtec conversion or modify the current head for better flow. Save some money on some machine work and head gasket i guess...
Current setup:
-my own built kit with a revhard mani and t3/t4 turbo
-38mm tial pushin .5 bar (no boost controller yet...)
-fmu, walbro 255 fuel pump (was saving up for hondata w/boost but...head first)
-3" all the way back
Engine: stock ls with about 100k on it [i've been the only owner, i baby it but my friends beat it up ]
Goals:
-eh...nothing high. 250whp with reliability(does this mean no ls/vtec turbo?).
if i do go ls/vtec, i got a really nice moroso valve cover for sale!

Everyone is going to tell you to go w/ the VTEC head but, I am a non-vtec lover so, NON-VTEC all the way .
Relaibility is in the hands of the builder and tuner in either situation. If you don't want to spend a ton of money just get the valve(s) fixed and 250 WHP should be a realistic goal w/ your current setup.

I respect the ls(had 2 ls turbos). Before I joined this site I thought you can get high horsepower with only vtec. I see doing all that machine work to the head probably end up costing me more than a vtec head. Which teh vtec heads are already good flowing from the factory.
