ls/vtec turbo?
i have a ls/vtec teg with a gsr (p72) head it needs a new head gasket but i plan on turboing it but i also have the stock head that the guy i bought the car from and he said "the compression is too high for boost". so what do you guys think should i stay with the gsr head or go back to non vtec and boost that? what type of things would i have to do to get the compresion low enough for some good power?
thanks for the help in advance.

Re: ls/vtec turbo? (92lsVtecTeg)
Personally I would stay with the gsr head, no use in un-doing the work. Ls/vtec will make more HP in general do to the fact that the vtec heads flow a little better.........Stick with the ls/vtec you won't be disappointed when turbocharging!!!

I would start w/ 7psi and go from there. Remember though, too much power and you'll def. be risking a blown motor. Those LS/Vtec's don't hold up without the proper build, so be careful.

Re: ls/vtec turbo? (92lsVtecTeg)
i would run 8-10 psi... 8 psi to be on the safe side.. 8 psi isnt that bad on a gsr.. ls/vtec more torque though eh? so that would be nice..

you can go higher than that, somewhere in the mid 7k range. i rev stock ls motors to around 7400 no probs

WE just did a ls/vtec turbo set up yesterday. running about 8-10 psi @ 10 psi it wants to lean out so im picking up a 255 WFP and we will se what happens. Other than the fuel issue it runs great. The head has been ported tit seats, retainers, bigger valves on intake side stock on the ex sice, and springs. Oem HG with copper spray. Stock bottom end b18a w/ a little over 70mies.
