internals to boost higher?
I am about to be boosting my Ek hatch with an ls motor and was wondering what internals are needed to make the motor strong enough to boost a lil high maybe around 15 psi or a lil less. thanks.
This is the stuff i have now: (still have a lot to order)
t3/t4 garrett 50 trim with .48 A/R
Tial 38mm wastegate
Autometer gauges
Apexi SAFC

Heres what I like to tell people, others may disagree this is simply MY opinion and exepriences. By the way these estimations are assuming a GOOD TUNE, and CORRECT fuel management, if you don't know what that entails then its time to do some researching. So first things first ditch the safc....
Stock internally Bseries can safely handle ~300whp
300-~450whp Pick up Forged rods and pistons
Anything above 450whp I would go ahead and get it sleeved.
My .02

LS's are good up until 300-320 with a good tune. anything above that on stock internals then you can prepare yourself for the rods to spit out the block. w/ rods and pistons the bottomend should be good for 500-600whp with a nice tune.
15psi on a smaller turbo like that? Is this your first turbo setup? well heres one quick tip i'm willing to teach you...
think about setting a goal on a usable power level. Why make all that power when it will just make you slower because you'll never hook up in the first 3 gears even from a roll. at 250-280whp range and a nice set of radials on the street will be untouchable if your a good driver. If you try pushing 300-400whp on street tires you will get beat by stock SRT4's while you do your 4 gear burn out trying to catch up

yea a lot of what is being said here is correct you can do a lot with stock internals. you can do more with forged goodies. but also every engine will blow up one day so if you are throwing an ls in your car with 200k miles on it uhhh think twice (just something to think about). also, i have a built ls in my teg only pushing 15 psi for high boost and 8 for low i push such low boost because i am still untuned. however the car runs ok i put some falken azenies on the front and don't have many problems with tracktion but i had to give up nice lookin 17s and now have 15's. i personaly wouldn't boost a motor with potential with out building it thats just me. if you know you want 500 hp one day then i suggest take your time build it and then you can slowly push more and more boost, add better tires, switch to uberdata etc.
hope this helps
