Default mfactory catch can

so i was trying to figure out a catch can setup and tried the line off the back of the block for a breather into a pop can, and it flows out about 1/4 to half a quart of oil every pull i do. I only have one breather plug in the back of the block and the valve cover breather going to a small mfactory catch can, any reason the block plug would be pushing out so much oil? i have the angle on it pretty high to where i thought it wouldn't be able to push any fluid out. any advice would be much appreciated. thanks

this is tipical off useing the ports on the back of the block and require a real catch can and a drain back style system. Its best to run fittings off the front of the valve cover because its baffled and you wont get oil in the can or hardley any. i think i get 1/8 of a quart every 3000 miles

so would it be best just to use the valve cover or setup a catch can that uses the valve cover and the plugs in the back of the block? And someone correct me if im wrong, but iv seen a lot of people say they wouldnt drain the stuff that collects in the catch can back into the motor but wouldnt that be exactly what the big catch cans are doing with the plugs in the back of the block?
