Meth injection?
I heared a rumor that I followed up on, and was just curious to see if it was a used one......windshield wiper fluid used in a meth injection kit?? I looked at the componets of some windshield wiper fluids and some ranged from 30% to 80% in the amount of methanol in it?? so say should I run a meth kit on my car would I be able to tune with a 2 dollar gallon jug of windshielkd wiper fluid?? also has anyone done this also??
thanks in advance

Re: Meth injection? (I got the CD5 Jeebies!)
Yeah people have used windshield washer fluid and it works ok, but I'd rather not pour some detergents and **** through my motor. Buy straight meth, it is still cheap as hell.

Re: Meth injection? (tokesGTR)
I wanna see real people with real results on them using methanol injection. I wanna know if it would be worth my time. Seems like a nice little power adder.

theres actually an article in the new volume of dsport about methanol injection.
I havent really read it yet, just skimmed it, but they said its best to use 50% water and 50% methanol.
They also posted up a dyno sheet with the gains, which were pretty decent considering you can get one of the full kits they have listed in the magazine for around 300 bucks, with everything you need. It seems like a good idea for a quick power adder, as well as a little bit of a safeguard against heat.

Re: (numbnuts22715)
evo's and sti run meth injection all the time
you dont see hondas; running them before you can get all the power you want from straight 91 octane on a fwd car.
with honda power is never the issue traction is.
with 91 octane you can make 400whp preatty easy and even then 4th and 5th gear are the only gears you get traction in

I'm running on 94 octane fuel with washer fluid as my water/meth injection. Works great. I just change the inline filters once in while cause the dye does clog up. Or you can just mix your own meth/distilled water, but that costs alot more

Re: (Bailhatch)
Although I would not recommed it for everyone, I am running 80% meth and 20% water at about 1500 cc total (direct port) that kicks in after 20psi. I have a pressure meter that kills the ignitition if water pressure after the switch gets below a safe range. I can run 27psi on a T3/T67, no detonation and clean plugs.
But like someone else said, traction is a major issue after 500whp, even with 26" 235 DRs.

On a friends GTR I tuned we made 30 WHP and 45 WTQ more at the same boost level, we could dial in a ton more timing in the mid range. We were limited to 17 psi on pump gas, and with the methanol it wouldn't knock at 27 psi. We limited it to 24 psi for the street because he doesn't want to blow up his tranny driving it every day, but we still made about 140 WHP more than on straight pump gas.

Same with a guy's talon I tuned. Before with his Evo 16G turbo, anything over 18psi it would pickup knock. And that was at about 16* overall timing advance. After the 50/50 water/meth injection, I was able to up the boost to 22 AND timing at 19*! More timing and more boost = WAY faster lol. No dyno plots tho. No awd dynos around here... lol

Re: (Tchleung)
Yeah I'll see if he still has the plots, this was last year and I haven't talked to him in a while. Gotta love AWD cars where you can actually use that power, 600 AWHP and hes running tiny sidewall 18" tires and all it does is chirps, lays down a 20 foot black patch and you're gone. The beauty of R32 GTR's is it's 15 seconds to pull a fuse and it turns off the AWD system, it's hydraulically activated with a pump and computer controlled otherwise the car is just RWD.

Haven't you Cali boys heard of slicks? We run them on the street here.

That's an awful expensive way to buy isopropyl alcohol.

Correct METHANOL.
Correct METHANOL.

Re: (daveb91)
still overpriced though...$3-4/gal for bulk methanol is just a touch better than ~$14 a gal for HEET.
I helped my buddy put a basic water/meth setup on his non-intercooled VR6 turbo and he insists on buying HEET...but it does work. 4 more pounds of boost and no knock
