I don't think that's pre installed in an ecu also not with the boost solenoid.

I got a good deal on a used p28 with s300 in it and Iv never looked back, I wanted to try ectune or neptune but there isn't a tuner that uses it within a hundred miles of where Im at. also I figured since every one around me uses s300 that if I did learn to tune on it it would be more useful.

I spoke with John Kerr of J-K Tuning and he preffers neptune over hondata. Also gave me some pricing on stuff. He will be tuning my car so I figured I'd talk with him about things.
Neptune = 400
Install with pwm components = 50
Boost solenoid = 60
That's with me sending him my ecu and him converting it to vtec and installing all the software and him shipping it back to me. It's $100 less then hondata if I ship my ecu out to someone. I'll end up going with it probably since he preffers to tune it. He also said it's just as user friendly as hondata and offers all the same functions.

Any competent tuner should be able to go between hondata/neptune/ectune without issue. They are all very similar.

What do you guys think about the aftermarket thermostat compared to the oem one. Since I was turbo I wanted to get it since it goes on , on a lower temp then the stock one does. SO do you guys think I should get the aftermarket one or just stay with the oem one?

EXACTLY !!!!!!!

All Honda ecu based tuning programs are very similar and are all comperable and will do the same stuff just about. When going to a standalone things gt mug more involved and alot less user friendly so I could see there being a tuning issue

I've never worked with ectune or Neptune but I'm very confident in my Crome and hondata tuning and know I wouldn't have a problem. With any others

I just rebuilt my synchros (the trans is from a 94 ls and bolted up to a b18a1) with synchrotech's pro-carbon series synchros and it got me thinking about my actual gearing. I know this question may have been asked before but there is just way too much information in this thread to find the answer quickly. What are my options about changing the actual gearing characteristics. I am building my car to do mountain time trial runs and some long distance endurance running as well (50+ miles at a time). So basically I want my gearing to be able to handle that kind of driving under boost.

(the reason that this is only my second post is because I did what most new forum members rarely do READ READ READ AND THEN ASK QUESTIONS)

Well if ou just spent money on carbon syncros they won't be any good with any other gears but it depends on poWer and weight of car. I would say hill climb you would want some shorter gearing especially when the elevaion goes up power production will be reduced

why did you do the syncros was it grinding?

Hey great set ups you guys have. I have a question. I just purchased a b18b head that is port and polished with Brian crower valvetrain and valves, Brian crower stage 2 turbo cams. The thing is its missing the rockers and cam caps. Can I use my b18a rockers and cam caps on the b18b? Would I have to machine anything?

It was grinding almost every shift. I thought my transmission was going to explode. My power goal for now is around the 220-250 area on the stock motor and 350 once I build my spare motor.

^^^ This is why I said the second part is up to you. Essentially you should to assure everything all works together. The caps may have worn differently then the cam journals on the head since they are from different cars. It's a judgement call basically.

So I would have to bring in the head with the b18a cam caps and rockers to the machine shop? Do I have to give them the cams to for them to check it for clearance?

Should just need to give them the head and the caps. Bring the cams just in case.

Its going to need more than syncros to repair that transmission especially if it was grinding that much. generally the syncros barely wear, its usually the sleeve or the gear that has the wear. You can repair them if you have petience or you can replace them. have to see what condition they are in as well

Well I may have exaggerated a little bit but it was grinding pretty bad and when I pulled everything apart, the synchros were worn the worst out of everything.
