Alright guys, i decided to wait for my lsvtec turbo project for later next week (don't got the funds for it all yet), but i do have the turbo kit. So i decide for the winter, i'm going to just run my stock longblock LS and boost the **** out of it. So my question is, how much boost should i run my stock block LS? Specs of the kit are:
-garrett t3/t4 57 trim .63 a/r
-spoolin performance 304ss mani
-tial 38mm wg w/ 7 psi spring
-3'' downpipe
-6'' JRC IC w/ drag IC piping
-injectors (not sure yet, im getting a set of DSM 450 's for free, but then again, i might be purchasing some 880's from Spoolin Performance)

I was thinkin about running what the stock wastegate spring is set at, and just daily drive at that. But if its possible to boost a little more, i'd be glad to turn up the boost a bit. So far, the longblock is a pretty high mileage one (168k miles), but compression and leakdown test indicate it's still good. (180-185 psi across all 4 cyl and leakdown test was less than 5%)

And if an unfortunate incident occurs, i already have my eagle rods/JE pistons sitting in my room. I also have a b16 head (just waitin on some misc stuff like GE kit, headstuds, blockguard, VTEC solenoid, VTEC oilpump/waterpump/timing belt)

So what do you guys think? What would be a safe amount of power i can extract out of my motor?

right now im tuned on hondata for 8psi. i've been running it like this on just a basic street tune for about 4 months now. i drive the car daily and have put some decent miles on the motor. as it sits, i've got 169k miles. i took off the head about a month or so ago to get it cleaned, resurfaced, and try to get rid of some nasty valvetrain noice that i've had for a while. when off, the cylinder walls were pretty shiney, basically see my reflection in them so i knew that i needed to take it easy and not rape it day in a day out.

my setup is damn near the exact same as yours. only difference is 550rcs, jrc 8" IC, and 3" DP/exhaust all the way through. i haven't dyno'd it yet as i havent had a chance to and nearing the rain/snow season, i'm not too concerned with going fast or knowing how much power i put down when not getting traction on the road ya know lol. it still feels as good as the day i put everything on, so from my experience, i wouldn't worry about not getting enough power or being confident in the motor holding up, you should be fine as long as you maintain normally.

Fo sho.. thanks for your input. Have you taken your car to the track yet? Or what do you expect to run? Just to give me a range of what i should expect.

i never took it to the track, but it should be good for low 13's, maybe high 12's on slicks and up to 10psi, all depending on the driver, tune, weather conditions ect... it's fun as hell on the street though... spools up to full boost at around 3800 and pulls nicely. i hadrly ever take it completely to redline as i'm not too comfortable going that fast on public streets lol

i'd guess at 8psi, 210-240hp and 200tq. generally that's about what most stock LS turbos with similar setups have put down. you'll like it, and im sure you like it even more with the vtec head and rods/pistons.

Man, you guys run lean compared to what I have.....I'm like 10.6 maybe a lil higher under full boost.

running rich will help spool time and prolong detination. But it can also add wear to your cylinder walls and piston skirts.

11.0-11.5 is the range I like mine

wow 10.6 ??? talk about rich. i just read the article that large farva put up with the chimpo monkey avitar. good info. i have been researching and to extract the most power you tune up to around 13. for longevity you keep around high 11's. BUT a stock neon under boost is like 10.2 but a neon effeciency vs a honda effecieny is why they run them so rich.aka there junk lol. i thought i was rich dipping down to 11.6's lol im going to try and go for a flat 12.0 line and see what she likes. i guess every motor has its own preference. but you make alot more power from 10.6 to 11.6 in theory and by the math anyway. what plugs are you running in there? and how much boost? realistically you want to keep a good a/f with your exhaust temps to around 1300 is optimum but only if your engine likes it and you dont have ping/detonation
