what happens if the 1/8npt plug on the bottom of the head doesnt seal/or isnt plugged at all. is it possible that itll leak THRU the headgasket down the back of the block....just curious. ive heard a few people say this can happen but it seems kinda tough for oil pressure get by 70+psi of torque bolting the head to block. fill me in. thanks

yes oil will leak,if you don't seal or install 1/8npt in bottom of the head.because on an l/s motor there is no block underneath the fitting, thats where the gsr vtec solenoid gets its oik pressure from.

i never noticed that...so if u were to turn the whole motor upsidedown u can actually see that fitting when the head is already bolted to the block???? can u actually access the allen key plug with the head on the block already?

Yes there is block material under the hole in the head for the VTEC oil pressure, it's just that on a LS block theres no opening for the oil to go through - it's just solid...
If you don't plug the head, it will manage to seep it's way out between the headgasket and make a mess on the side of the block.

yea thats what i thought, but im starting to think the link is from me not removing the rivets in the headgasket. i didnt know this was necessary as i have never done it before and never had this problem
