Look at this housing
I bought this turbo from beeyondengineering. It was used, supposedly had 2k miles on it. Supposedly the turbo is a t3/to4e 50 trim with a .48 a/r and it has a stage 3 wheel. The thing that worries me is on the turbine side of the turbo the gap between the wheel and the housing is about 3 times as big on one side of the wheel than the other.
I didnt notice this at first but when the guy that tuned my car looked at he pointed it out to me. The only thing we can think of would be its a stage 5 housing with a stage 3 wheel or someone tried to port the housing out to make it a stage 3 housing. Here are some pictures, im not sure if they will show anything. But please post you opinions or experiences with a problem like this. I am going to measure everything to see exactly what housing is on it. What if the housing is in fact a stage 3 housing? What is the reason for the bigger gap on one side?

Re: (mattssi)
What would be the cause for that unless someone either tried to port it or its a housing from a blow turbo and the fins chewed the housing up in which cause he lied to me.

does it spin freely,
if you spin it does the spot that is closest to the housing stay in one spot. if not the shaft is most likely bent.

the bearings and shaft are fine. it's the housing. I think we have a stg3 with a hacked up housing. hopefully the wheel is OK, which it should be since it has about an 1/8 mile clearance.

throw that thing on there and see what happens. if you got now shaft play and spins freely you should still be fine
