Default Internal wastegate isolation

Hey guys i have a gt28 compressor side turbo. I am currently running a external wastegate( and the tutbo has an internal) i was wondering if anyone of u guys have actually welded the flapper to the turbo itself. I need solutions to keeping the internal wastegate shut and this was one of them. Let me know if this is a good idea or if u have a better one.

um, why are u welding? just use the standard 5 bolt exhaust flange and block off the hole in the axhaust housing thats normally used for the internal wastegate

I was about to say that. I actually drilled a hole in the flange and threaded it. Using the internal wastegate hole to get a reading for my EGT gauge. Works like a charm.

Thats what im trying to do. The origional flange had a nubin that held the flapper closed for the internal. But now i got a differernt flange from ATP turbo thats called v-flange or something like that. The whole flange is Completly open so nothing to hold the flapper down. If you know of a better idealet me know.

Go to http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=GRT
look up gt ball bearing turbos. #3rd from the top left hand side. GT2876r akagt25/40r. Click on that turbo and my turbine side is the top one the gt25. The one with the built in swing valve.

Yeah im just now sure wether to weld inside the exhaust housing or to well the swing arm on the outside so it cant open the flapper. And yeah ur right about the flange but the new setup just wont allow it.
