Default How to solve overheating after 2 hrs of running hard?

How do you solve overheating after running hard for 2 hrs?

I have a 99 Civic w/Greddy Turbo on a B16Y8. After about 2 hrs of running hard (up to 15psi, w/cooling fan manually set at ON) my car starts overheating, not too bad but once it goes 3/4 up on the stock gauge I slow down and everything is fine.
I thought of replacing the radiator w/ a Fluidyne @ $399.95. Is there any other radiator that would fit and give me more capacity than the stock 4.2 L and more cooling area. Maybe an Integra radiator? Does anyone have a set-up they really works for them?

Please give info and facts from YOUR actual experience, if possible. Money not an issue, I really want something that works great.

Thank you in advance for all input and suggestions.

can you fit a full length rad in there? more surface area should help a lot.

Maybe you shouldn't be running your car hard for 2 hours.

I'm pretty sure you can fit an integra fluidyne in there. May take some modification/fabrication for brackets to hold it in place.

if youre running 15psi Im assuming youre already intercooled. A larger radiator would definately help. A more efficient fan would be nice also, like a FAL fan. Also an oil cooler would be another good investment.

I forgot to also state that the complete ac system has been removed therefore, I do have the space for a bigger radiator.
Someone told me that a stock Integra radiator would fit and does work well, does any of you have this set-up?

be ready for another headgasket coz your'e gonna need it......
while your in there have the cylinder head check for warpage....
i suggest to get new head bolts and learn to boost low next time.....
it doesn't matter if you get fluidyne rad. and a big fan... if your ain't tune right and mix it with too much boost something is gonna blow and in your case it's your head gasket.......peace.

Thanks for the input but in my case the headgasket etc. are fine. The issue here is the size of the radiator.

Anyway, my question as stated on the original post was, if anybody has a Fluidyne or an Integra radiator and how do they like the set-up, not what's causing the higher temps.

The higher temps are normal on highly modified cars like mine. That's why you will never see a stock radiator on a true race car. The cooling surface and capacity(4.2L) of the stock radiator are not enough.

The website address provided by JCushing has real good info and I would like to thank him along with everybody else that took the time to respond.

For those interested there is a similar topic under "Which radiator for Turbo" dated 01/20/2002 which has a great deal of info too.

I would try replacing the thermostat with a lower temp one like the one from mugen or any of the other brands you prefer, I think your stock radiator should be able to keep up.

My friend got a civic flyidine radiator and one fan on his turbocharged B18C1 teg and it keept the car pritty cool...
