how much material does honing take away. can i use the same pistons?

Default how much material does honing take away. can i use the same pistons?

i need to rehone my ge sleeved 84mm block. does honing effect the piston to wall clearance? what should they be for wiesco pistons? also, what honing stone should i tell my shop to hone with?

Yes honing does affect the bore size. I am going through the same trouble right now with my GE block. Wisecos need to be around 3-4 thousandth clearance but no more than 5 thou from what wiseco told me. Best advice is go talk to your local machinast and see if they will run one cyl out to see if you can get by with rehoning it. As for honing stones I believe it matters what rings you have but the machinast will usually have a certain stone he uses to finish cross-hatching so that you will get a good ring seal.
