how much boost should i tune my car to?
i have recently installed a new turbo kit on my stock b18c1 .. i have a precision t3/t4 50 trim .48 a/r exhaust.. some might say small i say less lag but anyway.... the turbo obviously doesnt flow as much air as say my old laggy *** 60 trim .63 ar t3/t4 that i had before so im going to have to push it a little harder..im having a guy tune my car with uberdata or crome.. cant really decide... but im not sure what psi to tune at... this car is my only car and my daily driver.. and im looking for 240-250whp and just want my car to be tuned to have a healthier safer motor more than a quest for power.... i was thinking 9-10psi..so if you know anyone who has a similar setup you can post what his dyno numbers at what psi please.. thanks in advance.

10 psi should be fine for you....usually at about 8psi people see about 240whp. With 10 you should see around 260 i'd say. give or take depending on the tuner.

ive never seen someone with my turbo on a gsr and make in the 250s with 8psi.. i have seen it with a the .63 ar exhaust.. mine is a .48ar exhaust side... smaller .. ive come up with a dyno where the guy is running 10psi with a intake manifold and makes high 250s

tune up to what psi your fuel management can handle.
id go for 12 psi on a conservitive tune and run 8 on a daily bases.
you can always turn the boost down once its tuned.
tuning for higher psi also gives you a lil insurance incase of boost creep/boost spike
good luck

im good man just installed that new turbo the other day like the new spool of this one the old one was toast... exhaust turbine was tore up.... but i should tune for higher boost and then turn it down for everyday driving? wouldnt that make the car run really rich(kinda like now) and make tuning pointless?

I have a GSR and it is tuned to push 10 PSI. I also have a Skunk 2 intake manifold and cat back exhuast. It's also a smaller turbo the garrett 15g. But has little lag and sucks on max rev. 10-11psi sounds good especially if it's turned right.

personal preference, ive driven crome with absolutley no hiccups or anything. i dont like how uberdata keeps on updating their stuff without really stabalizing their previous versions. with crome u can get a straiiiiiiiiiightttttttt asssssssss AFR line.
wes. you can tuen for higher boost. the fuel is boost dependent. so if you say add a lot of fuel for 15 psi. you only get that amount of fuel for 15 psi. its not liek the AFR hack where its boost dependant.
say if you give the car 350CC ( its not really how you do it but you get the idea) at 4000RPM at 15 psi of boost and 200CC at 4000 RPM at 0 psi of boost,
if you dont hit boost at 4K youll be giving the motor 200CC's of fuel. if you hit boost the ecu will make the injectors fire out 400CC's of fuel.

my buddy said that i would be really happy
with the spool up time
i would also love to see some dyno graphs

Re: how much boost should i tune my car to? (orion840)
its a great street turbo.. just a little on the wheezy side in the top end but i cant really form much of an opinion untill i get it tuned i havent taken the car past 7500 since ive had the turbo so i havent really tested its ability at say 8000 but it seems fine.. you just begin to hear the engine over the boost around 6000 which is unusual for me being my last turbo was a laggy one..... but im sure that at 5psi with that turbo im not pushing very much hp at all

Re: how much boost should i tune my car to? (b18c1wes)
im just looking for moderate hp ... 240-250 at the wheels and i want reliability ... so should i tune at 10psi and run a lower psi daily? or even tune higher and run lower psi daily?

Re: how much boost should i tune my car to? (sporty240)
tune to the amount of tq your willing to make, tq breaks parts not horseopower. i would say tune it to 240 ft/lbs or tq. whatever boost level it takes to get there so be it.
the point of peak tq is where your going to blow your motor, as its the point of highest dtress.
