Re: how much boost is safe for stock b17?
I ran a stock B17 block in 2009. Made 340whp at 11.8psi. ran it for the whole summer. When I took the block off to install a b18c1 it looked good.

Its not about the boost level...its about how much power it can handle. Most B series engines are safe into the 330-350whp range...some people have pushed them further, but beyond the mid 300s, you're rolling the dice.

well i was starting to think you guys were talkin about the blocks themselves ******* ie stock block and sleeves with forged internals. i havent heard of anyone making numbers like that with stock internals.

There is no number. And I dont believe its a crapshoot. If the motor is healthy, and tuned safley, you can pump as much power as you want through it. The margin of saftey as far as things breaking decreases with more power because the heat is much greater and the slightest detonation increases cylinder pressures tenfold and that is what breaks ****. All your doing when putting forged internals in is increasing that margin. A bad tune or detonation is still gonna kill things then to.
