how harmful are boost spikes?
just wondering. cause im pushin my stock block to the max pretty much as it is and im gonna be running about 12 psi solid on a 57 trim turbo and i always get a 2-3 psi spike for about 2-3 sec till it settles down. will this hurt it or is that short amout of time not a big deal? i do run a lil on the rich side so i think the tune is ok for it but the stock block will only take so much

Man U FTW
Since you're not tuned for those higher boost levels, i would say that its pretty dangerous....especially on a stock block. Stock ringlands are known to be weak so it might not take much to blow it up

Re: (T4eg)
actually i am tuned to go up to any boost level, but im just not sure how much the oem block will take pressure wise.. i am cranking out a decent amount of power off the stock block i know i am . so i dunno how much farther i can boost before something bad happens

if its tuned on some real ems , and its a good timing map with nice rich air/fuel.., you will be just find with that lil bit of spike , if tuned right stock blocks has been know to handle much more!!!!
