if you wanna run high boost, build block. if your gonna run stock psi (like around 7), i wouldn't worry about it too much.

10 psi shoulld get you close to 200, that's about the limit on a stock block if your not tuned. I personally wouldn't run that much on a stock block un-tuned, just my opinion

If you are going to boost your car I would suggest reading Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. It is one of the most complete turbo books and goes over pretty much everthing you need in a turbocharged system.

Dont make things complicated by building a motor unless you have too. Stock motors are perfectly fine for 250-300whp w/ a nice set up and proper tune. Boost is great though it makes making power easy.

You should be able to see 200hp on a stock-block D-series engine at 10psi boost with tuning. That's the key to making reliable power on a stock block! Don't just expect to bolt it on and tear up the streets day in and day out.

Perhaps you shouldn't worry so much about your hp numbers... from what I've seen that D is going to have some very nice tq figures.

tuning - finding the most power while running the motor safely...this would have to be on the dyno with a wideband and tweaking with certain upgrades u might have...ie: fpr, afc, boost controler, injectors, ecu, spark plug gap, timing....theres lots more..

Best thing to do is a block guard, a thicker head gasket and SRP's pistons and your safe up to 16 psi of boost.
