How can a turbo make no boost? plz help
OK the set up is LS/VTEC b16a2 head b18b block stock with arp head studs. it has edelbrock IM, aem FPR and Rail, r/c 440cc injectors, xenocron Chrome basemap chipped ecu, t3/t4 turbo 50trim, xs power 38mm wastegate, turboxs BOV, manual boost controller.
Whats going on is its not making no boost at all. we had a autometer boost gauge on it and we was getting 0 at wot till 5k rpm. my friend real frustrated open the boost controller all the way up and still nuttin. well we took off the guage cuz he thought it might be leaking thru there but we rev to 6k and we still dont here the bov at all.
What do ya think might be wrong?

Yeah we are free revving. the car is on jack stands. Dont tell me that cuz man i'm a feel real stupid if thats the reason. although i am a turbo newbie this is me and my friends first turbo install.

Re: (95dc2teg)
When I didnt have my downpipe welded up I could only build like 3psi of boost and I was pissed. Then I welded up a 3 ft. downpipe and omg... 7psi... Ill never forget that... Ever....

THANKX Ya'll!!!! its boosting!!!!!!!! we took it out and when i heard it blow off i was going crzy LOL
blow off valve is quiet though. might be cuz we just boosting 4psi for now.althought the ecu base tuned for 8psi.
on the BOV is it better to twist the top tight or keep it loose?

Do NOT boost on a basemap. That is a good way to shatter your turbo dreams. I would hope the guy that made the basemap for you told you not to boost on it.

umm, you are asking for trouble with that one. there is a lot more you have to learn with turbocharging.
a base map is not meant to be boosted on for a lot of reasons. it is meant to allow you to drive your car to the tuner and be modified for your particaular setup. it is universal and depending on what is in the basemap and the person that burned the chip. it will be too rich (most likely scenario) in that case it is pushing too much fuel into your cylinders and washing the oil off.
if too lean well, you know...
practice some patience and lay off the boost until you get it tuned. if you can'thelp it, disconnect a charge line. if you choose to keep boosting without a tune, prepare to source a replacement engine. you could also use this as an excuse to rebuild the engine with stronger rods and pistons, build the head , etc.
but if you're like most people, most of your budget was in the kit.

excited over just hearing the BOV?
let me guess, you didnt even give her a good run, just a bunch of short little bursts on your street and in front of the dairy queen blowing off.
