Default how big of a turbo should i get? zc crx.

i have a greddy manifold right now with a garrett 300zx T25 turbo. spool up is great and has crazy low end torque but it does lack after about 3rd gear or so.. so im gonna buy a new turbo soon .. prob just some no name brand but i wanna know what would be a good ar size.. prob a t3/t4 ill buy from ebay , i want a lil less low end and better high end . cause i run 225 50 15 bf drag radials and they spin through 3rd gear with the tiny turbo so maybe a lil lag will help with traction and make up for it in higher end power. this is on a dohc ZC in my 90 crx. the goal is to run 11's with whatever turbo i get. this setup does 12's so a decent size turbo should get me to my goal.. engine is stock. with the t25 i run 16 psi . open turbo .. any ideas?

Yes, depending on user preference. The B16g can support 350 whp on a DSM pretty nicely. Some people may not like the fact that they are internally wastegated, for the fact that in most cases, external gates > internal gates.

Also, I forgot to mention the Evo 16g. It is a tad bigger and can support 400+. I also forgot to say that you can get the turbo externally gated, I found it on another site.

Try a GT28RS or maybe even a GT2871R if you want more mid range and top end.

Why dont you look at the compressor maps at turbonetics.com and figure out your Cfm and CID of your motor.. Thats the way to really do it

do you have any problems with your zc running 16psi on a stock motor?

no . zc runs great at 16 psi. but its a small turbo so my 16 isnt = to a bigger turbo 16 ... and ill check out turbonetics.. the t28 looks kinda small too though?

you spin though 3rd on them radials.. geeze, i was only chripping/jumping in 2nd.

Best way to size a turbo, get one about the same size as the transmission, helps for gearing.

I would go with a Garrett GT2871. I made 300whp on a stock DOHC zc on a Td06 17c turbo.

what would be a safe amount of boost to run on the dohc zc? i was thinking on going about 8 psi. but you said your car was running great on 16 psi so im thinking i could do more maybe around 12-14? oh and the turbo im using is a garrett air research .48/.48.

did you encounter any problems with your zc?

Ehhh...ZC's do have the stoutest D rods out there...they can take some abuse. Hell if Evans is laying 400+ wheel on a bone stock Z6 at 25+ psi, I am starting to think it's possible to to suspend an elephant by its tail over a cliff tied to nothing more than a daisy.

i found a few 57 trim on ebay but they did not use internal wastegate and id rather get something that will bolt to my greddy mani so i dont have to make an adapter or weld it on.. what about the one i posted above?

If this is a budget build I'd go with either that SSauto T25 or a SSauto T3/T4 .57 trim depending on how much power you want to make.
