Default Hondata and Intake temperature Sensor

Alright, well I searched and looked at every single post on this in the forced induction forums and they didn't answer my specific questions. I have a b16a2 with hondata, so I am considered OBD-1 then. My air intake temperature sensor is just dangling in the engine bay right now, and shawn church said I need to tap it into my charge pipe. I read that I need an OBD-1 sensor for Hondata to read it correctly. I am not getting any CELs or anythig. Do I need the OBD-1 sensor? Or can I just tap my OBD-2 sensor into my chage pipe? Thanks

i asked this about a two months ago(mentioned i was gonna use hondata) and they replied you can either tap it into the charge pipe or just tie it up in the engine bay somewhere outta the way.

would it read inccorect temperature's and adjust my fuel improperly if I just left it out?

some say it will not read right and cause fueling probs down the line . My friend hasnt ran his on his b16 forever and runs pretty decent times with it. i ran without mine for a while and mine felt a little peppier. mine is on the manifold though

I've never had a problem with OBD2 or OBD1 IAT sensors used with Hondata. But I prefer to use the OBD1 sensors and mount them in the cylinder runner of the intake manifold over the ODB2 style in the CAC pipes.

It may be possible that the voltage readings per air temp are different scales between the OBD1 and OBD2 sensors but I have never looked into it. Anyone?

The best thing to do is to get the inteke temp sensor from an Integra (any year) and mount that in the intake manifold. If you just have it dangling in the engine bay, you are casuing more problems than you are solving. If you cannot put it in the manifold, then at least put in in the charge pipe as close to the trottle body as you can.

I also have a question regarding this if someone can help. I'm running a 98 D16y8 with Hondata s200. I was told that I need to drill/tap my intake manifold to fit the sensor otherwise my tuning will be off. Anyone do this before? or have pics?
