Homemade water injection.
I've been reading up on water injection systems and I've been thinking of putting one together myself. The biggest question i have about it was whether or not I can fabricate a system that turns on when the MAP sees more then 2.8 volts(>atmospheric pressure). My idea was to create a system almost identical to a stand alone dpfi setup that many people use to cintrol 2 extra injectors. I have a link(and now have misplaced it) to a site where some guy in NJ was running a bi-turbo shadow. He has a dpfi setup schematic on his page. Here is the idea: instead of injecting fuel under boost, inject water instead. Use a 1 gallon tank of water and use a redily available fuel pump and one spare 390cc injector to spray water instead of fuel. Will this work? Will the water damage the pump or injector...or will it even work?
As it stands I'm running a d16y8 with dsm 450cc's, tdo5h, zdyne gold at 9 psi, custom intercooler.
Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

That's what the ERL MF2 does. Except instead of tapping it into the MAP sensor it comes with a 3 BAR one to replace yours. Also, your going to want to run alcohol. It's costs money, but safer than risking hydrolocking your engine. Use the Isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) you find at walgreens or your local grocery store. I can get a 1L bottle of it for $.89 . Cheap....
Just spray a bunch of WD40 when you fill up the tank. You can use your windshield washer resevoir for the alcohol.

you could turn it on witha hobbs switch to avoid buying the mf2, but I dont think you would need water/alky injection for your setup unless you were going to run a lot of boost (which you cant do with your injectors)

How is he going to drive the injectors with a Hobbs switch? You still need something to tell them to open and close, and how long to open for. Not to mention a pump to push it. I'd rather pay for the kit or a DIY. Just go here GOOGLE.COM and type in alcohol injection. It'l be for Grand Nationals, but it'll work.

you dont use a fuel injector, you use a nozzle, similar to a nitrous nozzle and you need a pump either way... I just thought he was looking for a simple way to turn it on

Oh that's how I ran mine at first, but I wanted better control for when the vtec switches over. When that new profile came on I wanted full advance so I upped the flow of the system, but I experienced bogging so I ordered a MF2..
