Default hks blow off valve question

i have just completed the installation of my pieced together turbo kit last night. its a t3/t04e in a 95 civic with b18c. im using the fmu (12:1) for about 2 months until i can afford a better fuel management. but the only problem that i want to resolve before i drive it is that i cant hear the blow off valve when i let go of the throttle. the bov is an hks ssqv. the kind with the little screw in the back. do i need to adjust the screw a certain way to hear something? i've got the vacuum source coming from a little nipple on the back of the intake manifold right after the throttle body. i even t'd off some vacuum from the fuel pressure regulator just to see if the vacuum was my problem. still cant hear anything. i know hokking up a blow off valve is an easy task, but why is it not working? another thing i just thought of is the boost gauge. when i start it up and let it idle, sould the boost gauge be reading 20 on the vaccuum side? someone please help. this is my first boosted project and i dont wanna blow anything up. thanks

yep the boost gauge is about right. you will hit zero as you accellarate, then as the turbo spins up you'll go past zero into boost.

do you hear anything when you let off the gas? should hear at least air release... maybe you just need to adjust the screw on back to hear the flutter noise. that screw adjusts the bov's sensitivity I believe.

actually yes. my downpipe is open. but even when i put my ear right next to the bov and give it some throttle, i get nothing. i dont even have the downpipe built yet. could this be the problem? the turbo was originally internal wastegated, but i am running an external wastegate. since i dont even have the downpipe flange mounted, the internal hole is still open. maybe the hole being open wont let me produce enough pressure to make the bov open.

uuhhhhh??? You prob. should put a dp before you run it again. Also its not going to blow off with no load on it, only small turbos do that.

yeah man, it sound like your just not building boost. you should have at least a DP connected.
