Blow off valve not functioning
i first had the BOV t'd into the top port of the throttle body, and the blowoff is really weak and seems late, then i t's it into the FPR, same thing regardless of the adjustemnt really loose or down tighter. my motor isnt tuned yet, but even taking it to about 3-4k it doesnt blow off loud.
would having an untuned motor make a difference? if i use a different source i can just use the t on the fpr for the boost gauge right? or should i use a different hose besides the fpr for the boost gauge?
on only a light load as your driving since untuned, revving to 3-4k rpm with low boost... your not going to hear a very loud release.
it is opening though right?

no problem, at least your making an attempt to learn things.
as long as your getting a release when you lift off the throttle and its not surging then your ok (you can google for video of what surge sounds like). if your worried about the bov reacting too slowly you may want to run it its own vac line direct from the intake manifold instead of tee'ing off a source... if it seems to react quickly enough though you are ok tee'd.
the more boost the more noise though basically, so with a light load your probably not even hitting full boost at that rpm which is good since your untuned you dont want to be beating on it too much. once your tuned and you can rev the car out and will be wot/ full boost, the bov release sound will clean up and get louder.
what kind of bov btw?

your the man one last question, you said directly to the thorttle body the BOV or the boost gauge? i was using the port that was caped off for the BOV and theres a def vacuum on the port that should be fine right?

when you say it is teed into the top port on the throttle body, which one?
if its the one going to the evap can, thats venturi vac if i remember, and even so i dont think that source is sufficient enough, imho, a vac manifold is the way to go, or tee off of the pcv valve.

yah theres 3 top ports behind my throttle body on my f23, 1 is the fpr, 1 is the canister, 1 is caped off, i used the fpr, and the caped off one same results. im thinking to use the caped off port for BOV and the T on the fpr for boost gauge,

i think the bov needs a larger boost reference. try teeing it off of the pcv. leave the fpr reference alone. sounds like you need a vacuum manifold.
ill will try the pcv valve i guess ill know if my pcv valve needs to be replaced from now on if the bov changes its tone, haha.
thanks for the help man!
