High Compression Q's?

Default High Compression Q's?

I've been running my car on stock internals and it started to smoke just a tad when you rev it from a dead stop, smoke was blue so I know it's oil. Took my turbo kit off the car, did a compression test came out 170,165,170,170 car still smokes under a free rev just a tad bit of blue smoke though. I'm thinking blow-by so my friend is selling his b16 head with nothing but a RLZ valve job and everything else is stock, has no cams, so i'm going with some type r cams. I wanted to throw the turbo kit back on once I finish the ls/vtec setup but I am sure my bottom end wouldn't hold up to much longer. so my friend is selling his high compression OEM rebuilt LS block. it has stock LS rods shotpeened, with CTR pistions(i think) and ARP rod bolts, clevite rod bearings, vtec water and oil pump and he said the compression ratio is around 12:1 but he knows for a fact it's at least 12:1. motor is already assembled, I wanted to go with a 9:1 ratio but the motor is complete and all it needs is to be dropped in. with a 12:1 CP ratio on a LS/VTEC would it be safe to throw around 8-10psi on the motor? they are stock honda rods/pistons if they were eagles/wiesco's i'd be a little more trusting but the high CR already bothers me with boost in the mix. Options ,opinions different approachs are welcome!

12.0:1 is very high for boost, i wouldnt even bother to boost that motor with that CP. But if you really want to i would try and get a multi layer headgasket and try and drop the CP as much as possible. A very very conservative tune and some luck it might go ok, but dont be suprised if it goes.

Definately not a wise idea. The c/r is way to high IMO. If your gonna end up using it, do like urbansi said and get a multilayer headgasket. I know inline pro makes a 3mm one. That should bring you down to atleast somewhere in the high 9s. Which is a lot lot safter then 12:1. With that and a good tune I think 10psi is reasonable and safe.
