High Altitude and Boost

Ok Guys, here's the situation. I live in Colorado, elevation 6000ft. My manual boost guage reads 10psi, but my EMS says im only hitting 7psi. The AEM EMS reads voltage off the MAP sensor to determine the pressure. MAP sensors measure the ABSOLUTE ammount of pressure. This is confirmed by 2 other AEM EMS users at high altitude. The difference is about -3psi for all of us. So at 6000ft, we are about 3psi below sea level in the ammount of air. With the car turned off and the key on, (engine not running but sensors on) we all see around -3 psi on the AEM EMS.
My main Question.....With proper tuning, Honda/Acura internals can handle 12psi daily driven right? Thats at Sea Level. So does that mean that I can run 15psi....15psi @ 6000ft = 12psi @ sea level. Right now my A/F is nearly perfect. 14.7 while crusing....12.5 - 12.0 while in boost. And I have a thick head gasket that lowers my Comp ratio to ~9.0:1
Sooo, Going by my Manual Boost Guage, 15psi @ 6000ft = safe as 12psi @ sea level????? 15psi on the Manual Boost guage = 12psi on the MAP sensor.

from what i can remember, while being in boost 12 psi would be 12 psi at 6000FT or a 0 ft, but off course, when you see what the maps read it will read differently, but that is the beauty of boosted engines, that the altitude doesn't affect them that much, off course, the turbo needs to spool a lil more to push the same amount of air, but the pressure would be the same

Hmm, well there are 3 of us up here that when our Boost guages read 10psi, the AEM reads 7psi. One guy's boost guage reads 6psi and the AEM reads 3psi. So, Im beginning to think that the numericly same boost guage levels at different altitudes are actually different ammounts of air.
Its not just the AEM EMS either. Before I had it I was using a V-AFC. 10psi on the boost guage was .480 cm/kg (7psi) on the V-AFC.

Hey...I live in the springs, but I'm usually in Denver for college. I come down on weekends. Any way you would be willing to show me your aem ems? I'm really curious what it's like to work with.
ok, where are you getting your boost read? (on the manifold or on the turbo compressor?) and what type of gauge is it? (mechanical or electrical)

Mechanical Boost Guage Autometer Lunar Series. Its Teed off the FPR. The accuracy of the Boost guage should not be an issue....I dont think. The boost guage is reading 10psi above AMBIENT air pressure up here. Sea Level air pressure is 14.7....at 6000ft there is less air/less ambient air pressure.

Yes and Yes, I think that is right, however not sure the exact psi more you could run
