Default Help on D16 Turbo Timing

I'm putting a t3 on a d16z6.. and i'm doing Liam's hack with the AFC to run 450's and no check valve.. I wanted to know if I have to get BTM or can i run stock ignition.. most people seem to run stock ignitions. But how much do i retard the ignition, and it won't be able to retard the ignition more per pound of boost correct?? Any tuning tips would help. I'm hoping to run around 10 psi when completed.

do a search. but i am pretty sure you retard the stock ignition but a btm or standalone would be the better way to go.

I have.. and many people say retard the timing .25 degrees per pound of boost.. but if it doesn't depend on boost won't retarding it 2.5 degrees from idle be bad?.. there's no easy way to make it react to boost other than a BTM .. i'm looking for something cheaper. What if I just used a ton of fuel to start off and no retardation.. then tuned down the fuel from there?

the stock timing is 16º+-2º, so if you retard it two degrees to 14 BTDC you won't be loosing THAT much power out of boost...

You wont be able to run 15 psi with the afc because your stock ECU will start to see boost at around 10-11 psi (I think) and you will throw a code.....might want to go with standalone if you want to go that high.

I'm not really sure what affect the 3 bar sensor would have with the afc....

Isn't there anyway to get around that? I'm looking for a cheap way to run more boost .
