to guard or not? blockguard thread
post here if you run a blockguard
What is your motor setup?
what fuel management system did you run?
was it tuned?
problems? yes or no?
I'm sick of hearing blown d series headgaskets, and i'm still contemplating the use of a blockguard

There is like 5 billion archived threads about block guards.
Try backing your timing down a bit if your blowing d-series head gaskets. I am going to be testing out this theory once I get a tial wastegate and I can control my boost level better.

I will be running one. Install it correctly and you will be fine.
Beerbong, Im also going to tell my tuner to take it easy on the timing, and write down my final timing maps, hopefully we can draw up some correlation between the two.

I normally don't recommend a block guard unless you are rebuilding the motor and honing the cylinders. i have seen block guards shift the walls ever so slightly, thus blowing head gaskets on drop in applications.

Re: to guard or not? blockguard thread (martinscott)
That was most likely due to someone hammering the unit in, which will obviously distort the sleeves even if the blockguard was barely off.
You need to sand down the blockguard so it slips into place easily.

Re: to guard or not? blockguard thread (igo4bmx)
I'm running a GE block guard right now and so far no over heating problems.
my setup: d16z6
cp 75.5mm 9:1 comp.
eagle rods
arp head studs trq. to 65f/lbs and re-trq after 1k miles.
stock head gasket w/copper spray
head was resurfaced
now...this all stock ign. map cause motor is not boosted yet..so....well see.
I do agree with BBKA about being easy on the timming, I don't think D's can handle high cylinder pressure like the B's. Let us know how it goes BBKA

Re: (TurboHybridEG6)
I'm running one on a b-series turbo and I've had no problems for three years. I've been able to see the blockguard a couple of times since I put it in because I was doing other mods and it hasn't sunk or anything. I also only recommend that you put it in when you are doing a full build and you can hone or bore the block after.

Re: (quik1)
properly installed block guards will not have any problems. We have sold alot and i mean alot and never had anyone complain about over heating. we had the bores geting thrown off from people trying to hammer the guards in but other then that never have i gotten a complaint of over heating. please put the BG in first then bore/hone the block and assemble the motor.
