My GT28RS is blowing oil out the compressor. The bearings feel great and it has no shaft play and works great. ATP tells me I need to replace the whole CHRA, but that seems like a waste. Does anyone just replace the oil seals in Garrett ball bearing turbos?

How old is that turbo?

Maybe a year old, got about 10K miles out of it.

Damn, that's not very long. I guess if it was fine before and just started leaking, then it must be the seals. I don't know of any turbo rebuilder personally, but there must be some that can just do that for your Garrett turbo.

I've been boosting to 20 PSI with it and making 380WHP, so I probably killed it by running it so far out of its efficiency range.

looks like we found the weak spot for these turbos. . .

yea, over spinning a turbo like that can cause damage
