GSR with 3MM Head Gasket Questions
I have put on a 3MM head gasket on my boosted GSR JDM engine and have problems doing the timing because of the thicker head gasket. Will adjustable cams gears help me with this problem. If you have a set up like this or have done one let me know. Car has good compression like 170+ across. running 9 psi but feels good up to 6000 rpms and then power falls off. Felt faster with stock long block at 5 psi. Has to be the timing, but will cam gears solve the problem. HELP

The reason it felt faster with the stock compression is beacuse the turbo spooled faster also you had more power

still not helping with the timing issue. timing is OFF period probalby at least 2-3 degrees on each cam.

Don't believe me Jim! DAMNIT! Call Inlinepro and they will tell you cam gears retarded 2 degrees to bring the timingback to stock.

3mm seems like a huge head gasket to me. That's roughly .11" thick vs. .029" (stock).
Adjustable cam gears will fix the cam timing issue, but it probably won't make it feel like what it was before the head gasket at 5psi. That's a huge compression loss with the 3mm head gasket.
Use a degree wheel and/or dial indicator to degree the cams in or get it close enough without using the dial indicator. You can get it close enough without it if you know how to go about it.

The gasket is only 2.03mm Jim, it is a Cometic .080" gasket which translates to 2mm. DUH! And your compression is approx 9.4:1 as opposed to 10.6:1.

dont mean to highjack, but how do you do that? I have 9.0.1 pistons and 1.7mm gasket whats my new ratio? and I have adjustable cam gears set at stock, is there a chart that helps with adjustment for peaple who dont have dyno access?
