Default Gravity feed? Any problem not doing it?

I am finishing up my turbo setup for my 89 civic si, but I have the turbo setup on the manifold and I cannot clock the turbine at all, only thing is I can move the compressor housing. It is really really stuck their and before I shell out to buy a better turbo (one that is not stuck like that), I want to see if this motor is going anywhere with this.

Is it OK if the oil drain outlet is facing a 45degree angle up? Is the oil pressure enough to push it out (can't see why not). Only problem I see is when I stop the engine, the oil will not drain out and might cook in the turbo a bit.

TIA

Since oil is the lifeblood of your motor, I wouldn't imagine you would want to have any kind of fighting gravity involved in letting it flow through the turbo. The slower it flows, the hotter your turbo may run. On a side note, I had the same problem with my first t3/t4 and when I finally got it to rotate, it messed up the seals and the turbo leaked oil like crazy. Bad stuff. Good luck!

If you have a gravity feed type setup for your oil, then you MUST ensure that it is flowing with gravity, otherwise the oil will pool on the return line. Not good.

IIRC the most it should be angled is 30 degrees...

If its stuck just take a Rubber Mallet and whack it a few times it will loosen right up.

You would think, huh... but unfortunately it didn't do anything with a rubber mallet. I didn't mean gravity feed, I ment that gravity would take the oil out of the line to the pan after I shut it off. But shouldn't the high oil pressure take care of cycling the oil throught the turbo?

Also, this turbo is water cooled, too.

Has anyone here ran their turbo with the return line facing up or 45 degrees up or not facing down for that matter? Any probs with it?

Still, I can't think of anything that would be so bad because you have alot of oil pressure pushing the oil, so why wouldn't it push out? All I can think of is that it's harder to get the oil running out and it will stay in the turbo after you shut down.

Anyone else?
