HOMEMADE Oil Restrictor - 1/8" - 1/8" smashed and re drilled. Work Fine?
I personally have a smoking problem, not your coming cigarette problem. My turbo smokes
When I come to a stop and the oil pressure is 40+psi the turbo smokes like a chimney, smeels like burning oil. I had the problem 2 weeks ago and though it was just more of my motor blowing and dying, swapped in this fresh rebuild motor and it still does it. Ive come to the conclusion it must be the turbo.
My car is running SAE40 oil, oil pressure is usually 80+ when driving, I just like it, dont know why.
Aparently my junkyard t3 .60/.63 doesnt....
What I wanna do
Take a turbo fitting, the 1/8" - 1/8" ones that have a taperred top and a small hole at the top and bottom measuring .118"
I want to smash the top of this fitting, crush it right down ontop of itself and redrill the hole. How small I dont know, maybe .045"
I know this is the cheap way to do it but Im in a bind for time and cant stand billowing smoke coming out of my car, and its a junkyard turbo so Im happy as long as its getting oil.
Also my center section doesnt seem to tighten down very well anymore, I can tighten 4 of the 6 bolts and I can still grab and FORCEFULLY spin the compressor housing and cartridge around in the exhaust housing. Could this be causing the smoking problem aswell?
Need some advise

I'm not really sure what you are refering to as for the part your going to smash, but...
What i did was take a small, inch long coupler i think they are called. Put my 1/8th in. male/male fitting in on end. The other end goes into the center section. Then i took a 1/8th in. plug, cut a small piece off it, filed the sides down so i'd fit in snugly into the coupler. Drilled my hole in it, and then put my earls fitting for my 3an line in the other end of the coupler, essentialy sandwiching the small piece with the hole, and thus making a restrictor. Now, my smoking problem is still there, but, i noticed a difference in spool. Driving through my neighborhood in third, i could not make any boost, below 30mph. Now i can make boost no problem at all. Only change, was the restrictor. I ran a track day, so i'm guessing i got enough oil

Well my fitting kind of cones at the top and has the hole in it at the top
Im just gonna hit that in and redrill
It didnt stop your smoking problem though eh?
how small did you go with the hole?

I brazed one of the inline fittings full, drilled IIRC with a #58 drill.

My car smoked this morning 2 big clouds on the way to work, this ofcourse was the first time running since I installed the squished fitting, that was on my little 2km trip, after work the car let out 2 fairly small clouds that werent overwhelming, just littlw wisps type of deal
Im hoping this cured my problem
