Default Got a few questions for the experts.

A friend of mine wants a non-expensive turbo setup including motor. He is looking for 350-400whp on pump gas daily driven (occasionally). I told him to do an LS slap forged pistons and rods and a drag 3 kit am I wrong? someone give me some advice for 5-6k including motor and turbo.

Seems to me the words cheap and turbo shouldn't appear together, nevermind the desired power output.

Cheap, Reliable, Fast.
choose 2.

thats how building a car works.
you get 2 of them. only 2.

Im sure for 5-6K he can find a government surplus sale going on somewhere. Tell him to buy himself a rocket, strap it to the *** of his car----and have a pretty fast car.
Other than that, like everyone else said. Non-expensive, turbo, and 350 hp shouldnt be in the same sentence, not even paragraph, **** not even on the same page.

for 6k you could probably build an ls motor with je pistons and eagle rods, I would go lower compression like 9:1, get a drag 3 kit and get either hondata or AEM EMS!! depending on if the car is obd1 or obd2. if obd1 I would use hondata, obd2 EMS is the ****!! As far as sleeving the motor, I heard of stock sleeves running over 500 hp!! It is all about fuel tuning in my opinion, but sleeving gives you apeace of mind so to speak... 400 whp daily driven? I will be running that on racegas but no way on pump gas...to sketchy for me and can you say traction? Anyway thats my .02$!!

when your buddy starts adding up the cost to just make 400hp. he will be looking to sell body parts, blood, and any thing he can think of. just look at that guy who is selling his car. i cant think of his name right now but he is selling his hatch for 22k. that is what it takes to make hp.
