after that long 1k mark. You kind of work your way up the rpms.

I've built several engines and know that metal shavings continue up to about 500 miles (which is when you are to 1dst change the oil on a built engine) and that the engine isn't completely broken in until 1500 miles. If you are in a rush you are good to start redlining at 1000 miles. Personally I wait until 1500. 25K miles later my current runner, it eats <3/4Q of oil every 3500 miles(if I slack off and wait that long). My redline isn't VTEC territory with a 7200rpm redline but it's a 2.1L(2L punched block) and I do nothing to baby it and it still runs w/o any complaints. My 1.5L honda used to eat 1/2Q every 7000 miles, and it had 190,000 miles on it. It was never opened up.
