Golden Eagle Block Guard
I've seen extremely mixed opinions on the GE block guard. I really don't want to sleeve a d16, seems like a waste of money to me. I'm seriously considering a block guard. I've seen people say not to get one, and others give me the opposite answer.
From what I've gathered via the search feature.. its usually due to bad install when they cause problems? I'd be getting a machine shop to install in pre-boring/honing.. So I would think I'd be fine as long as professionals are doing the work.
And I'm not doing this because I'm worried about cracking a sleeve; if a sleeve is going to crack its going to crack. I'm just doing it for a little extra insurance at high rpm's. What do you guys think? Will it HURT to have one?

If installed properly, no! Anyone who has had issues with their GE block guard has put blame specifically on the product. I have used a ton of these things, and never once have I have a failure or issues because of the block guard!
You are doing the right thing. Have it installed, pre honing, and be sure it is below the deck approx. .125"
Have fun
