Default Golden Eagle sleeving?

What does everyone with their sleeves think about o-ringing? I know the advantages of it, but I've heard it can create sealing problems.

We haven't had any problems with o-ringed GE sleeved blocks sealing... That's used in combination with their overbored OE headgaskets and pretty moderate boost levels (~30lbs.)... Just my $0.02

the reason I ask is because I have a friend who is having Larry at Endyn build his motor and he was told not to do the o-ringing, because when you have the block decked you just cut it off. I'm about to send them my block, but I'm not sure about getting it o-ringed.

Ok, second question. Will I see any problems with blowing head gaskets if not having it done?

None of the motors that I build have Orings. I am not saying that the Orings don't work, but most people now don't use them. I have never had any problems without Orings.

Yea, that's true too... Our non o-ringed higher boost motors still hold up just fine, but as for the o-ring grooves getting cut off, how much were they talkin about decking?

well I just put together a motor for a friend and the o-rings are sticking up so if you deck the block any, you going to have to cut them if I'm not mistaken. If I have to square up the block deck they'll get cut, right?

Oh my bad, you were talking about the copper wire o-rings themselves, correct? I thought you were talking about the o-ring lands in the sleeves getting "cut out"... You're right tho, if o-rings are already installed they're going to get cut/grinded with the block is decked... Peace

if you have to deck the block then you had some cooling problems that really heated the block surface and warped it., i been using my blocks for 3 yrs now and never had to surface it and never had sealing problems. AEBS blocks with stainless steel o-rings ran up to 37 lbs no problems this year 40-45.

thanks for all the info. I think I'm going to do without o-ringing the block though, doesn't seem like it's going to be a problem.

another reason to deck the block is to change deck clearance and adjust the compression ratio alittle. The reason I say this is because its cheaper to do this to bump up the compression a few 10th's than to have custom piston made.
