Default Gasket Maker or Bare Metal ? ...

Hey guys, i'm doing my first turbo setup & i'm just wondering i know some people are going gasketless (wastegate & turbo wise) some people are going red high heat gasket maker & some are doing the copper gasket maker i'm just wondering which one is better actually metal to metal or actually have some sort of a filler such as the red high temp or copper gasket maker ? ...

here's a visual aid just incase i lose someone

or

or

metal to metal ....

which is everyone choosing for t3h win ? ...

also i have searched and these are the 3 common answers i've found i'm just looking to finally find out which one i should go w/ so i can start getting this turbo setup done ! ...

- Thanks Justin

I use the top one on my turbo manifold, wastegate, and downpipe. Work great and i havent had any problem, silicone on the downpipe tend to get burnt though due to the high temp from the turbo but still seal fine and no leak whatsoever.

i'm using the second one, except it's in a spray can. still holding strong between my wastegate to manifold and dumptube to wastegate.

oem exhaust mani gasket, stainless turbo inlet gasket, no turbo -> dp gasket, no wastegate -> mani gasket

im not using any type of gasket makers. i havent had any problems. as long as therer arent any preturbo leaks, performance should not be afftected.

just went out and bought the first one ...

quick question is there suppose to be a little gap between the wastegate & manifold due to a ring that touches the manifold or do i just have this thing on as backwards ? ... basically should i be able to see the little pole through the outlet when the manifold is mounted or should "pole outlet" be mated to the manifold ... lol basically can i see some pix of open wastegate setups lol ...

B yump !

that little ring needs to be compressed so it sits flush with the rest of the flange, so the plunger/valve seats and doesnt leak.

use the oem exhaust manifold gasket, as long as the other flanges are flat, no gaskets anywhere else.
