Default Garrett T03 Turbo Intallation

I'm trying to install a cheap turbo system into my 1991 CRXsi. I have a older (87-89) Garrett Turbo. The person how sold it to me ($49CND) said that it was in good shape. It does indeed seem to be in good shape. The turbines seems to rotate easily without any grinding or scraping sounds. My question is simple, should the turbines continue to spin freely for a few seconds after spun up a few rpm's by hand? Mine spins easily but stops almost imediatly when I let go. I've never tried this on a new turbo so I have no idea if this is a bad sign.

Anyone spun the turbines by hand on anew turbo?

Much appreciated!

first of all you shouldnt be spinning the shaft. there is no oil on the bearings. second of all if the turbo hasnt been run for awhile it will tend to be a little bit sticky. this will go away after you run it for a little bit.

Yeah it sounds ok. It should spin freely but it wont spin forever after you let go. Especially if there is no fresh oil cycling thru.
