Prob a little too early to worry about a little smoke. Unless its drinking oil I would give it some time.

agreed let it run a few more hours and be gentle, check your oil regularly

Dont know if you have a catch can , but you may wanna start thinking about releaving/venting the valve cover. That will solve your problem , If your comression is perfect .

If your compression changed, or any other parts changed, you are an excellent (actually a manditory) candidate for a retune. However when you rebuild a motor, the rings don't seat the first second. Over the first few hundred miles they wear in slightly to create a better seal. Right now the unseated rings allow a little blowby, leading to some smoke. You're also cooking off any lighter oils & moisture that got in during the rebuild.

Thats a little low, but if the rings aren't seated fully yet then you cant expect much more

so on compression test do you get the reading from 5 cranks or when the needle is fully stablizlied?? i did it at 5 cranks and all of them are hitting 170 psi

if its tuned good, moderatly beat on it up a long hill, then decel on the motor down the hill, do that a couple times, should seat the rings better, being gentle isnt whats gonna seat rings... change oil after you do that as well

ALot of people break fresh motors in different ways. IMO I like to be gentle for the first 150-200 miles to make sure everything has had a chance to get properly lubricated and start to develop a wear pattern, after that normal stop and go traffic for another 200-300 miles while occasionally start to get on it harder and harder. Once I hit the 500 mark, I bang the **** outta it a few pulls, let it cool a bit then do that a few more times....others will pull them out of the garage and give em hell at the first stop light they come across.

the rings are not seated ad are supposed to rip on it some within the first 20 miles of the engines life. if you dont do it your rings will never seat. ive watched people break engines in slow on the street and they always smoke and all the cars i seen broke in on a dyno dont smoke a drop. the rough machining on the cylinder walls are to seat your rings and they are gone after the first 20 miles.

Also you need some source of crankcase ventalation. cause that is also what makes your rings seal. with the breather set-up that i have it mad my compression test raise 70psi

I say give it more time and the compression will go up, deffinately get a catch can too.
Every tuner or engine builder ive ever talked to has told me that they break it in hard on the dyno and have never had issues. And some people have stuck in their mind that your supposed to have a break in period. However its a prefference.

I would do a leakdown test. Just because the compression looks good doesn't mean that there couldn't be potentially 10-20% leakage in any given cylinder

I wouldnt worry bout it man... my setup dose the same thing, smoke out the valve cover i have perfect compression within 10 psi across the board its about 175 - 170 on 8.5 compression pistons witch is perfect for my combo but everything is within spec else were... so till it warms up it smokes but it dont affect performance at all in my car..... but u dont have to take my word for it lol... o yea and as far as breaking in rings best thing to do is on first start up 2k rpm for 20 min then boom there all seated and wont get no better : )
