Default Freon based intercooler ??

Besides the fact most A/C pumps couldn't hold up to track conditions. Has anyone intertained the idea of using freon?

have you seen the new 2005 ford f150 lightning??
http://www.svt.ford.com/conceptLabLightning.asp
midpage down.. it uses the a/c system to give the car 50extra hp over the already stock supercharged 500hp and its reusable every 2-3min.. very nice idea kinda like a never ending bottle of NOS thats safe for the car.

not like nos...

it is for added intake charge cooling under heavy load, for more dense air/ fuel mix= more power.

but yeah... ford has shown great " out of the box " thinking on this.

So rather than running the AC coolent 100% of the time, it is "staged" and "dumped".
I am very surprised by Ford. I wouldn't have expected something like this from them.

Yeah, well, 90% of Americans drive a truck in one form or another (SUV, mini, van, minivan, stupid *** Humvee)

i've seen a system in summit magazine called ''cry02" that uses Co2 to charge your intake down like 35% or so. It comes in three stages and the third one goes to your intercooler and decreeses you intake temp by about 85% i believe but you can check for yourself.
good luck!

good luck!</TD></TR></TABLE>Yeah, I saw that at SEMA last year. Seems to be a great setup for drag racers, but not practical for a 30 minute track session.

Maybe an electric compressor like in the Prius, or Insight would work for you.
