free flow dual exhaust
hi
instead of using a 3" exhaust system from the turbo to the 3" HKS muffler,
does it give the same or better performance to use 3" pipe from the turbo, divided into dual 2" pipes and ending up with dual 2" inlet Honda S2000 Mufflers ?
The aim is to make the car more silent and don't sacrifice performance.

any time you decrease the pipe size, you loose performance, if you want to get some quiet out of it, go for the longest magnaflow round core muffler you can fit, they are straight through so they have no affect on performance, and absorb lots of sound.

no this is an integra, but I'm thinking about the exhaust system whilde doing the turbo work.
ok I'm decreasing the pipe size but into 2 of them. 2 x 2" pipes which is connecting to the 3" pipe.

i made 635whp (if i had a stronger fuel setup i could have made more) and thats with this exhaust setup...
i have friend with a s2000 with 400whp with s2k exhaust... im sure it will work however its just not ideal...

Just stick with a single exhaust setup, 3 inch. going to dual exhaust is pointless and will not help performance on your integra, only hinder.

the purpose for me to add dual exhaust was to be able to add 2 mufflers to the car without restricting the flow of my exhaust but allowing the second muffler would lower the exhaust tone...
now dumping the exhaust under the car is something that i plan to change, i plan on going over the rear control arms and make the exhaust flow out the back of the car instead of underneath it... which will probably help lower the drone under the car...

That's gonna look retarded, just FYI.
Anytime you add piping the length increases the surface friction of the gasses in the pipe, which causes added (and in this case) unnecessary backpressure.
3" exhaust is tried and true and cheap.

Two 2" pipes would have a combined cross sectional area of 25.12 sq. in.
3" pipe has a cross sectional area 28.12 sq. in.
25.12 sq. in. is equivalent to one 2.8" pipe.
That should give you a general idea of what you are working with.
