Fire IN my engine?!?!?!?!
it almost sounds like when a valve gets warped or bent or something and it will not close all the way which woud yield low compression and cause the guides to get fubared. but since its on every cylinder and the no.s are very close to each other, i dont think it would have to do so much with the bottom as it would with the head.
i know burke doesnt wanna hear this, but, if u crack a sleeve, does that cause compression on every cylinder to go bad, or just that one thats cracked?

well, i put compressed air in the cylinder and you can feel it come out the valve cover, guess i popped all the rings somehow, just a shitty coicidence. fortunatley i have some real friends. my buddy is letting get his rebuilt b18a bottom end that he was going to put in his car. this way i just have to put one back together for him and ill still graduate this semester!
well i spent yesterday tearing the motor out of the car, pulling it apart, and then putting a new rebuilt ls bottom end back in with the tranny. rings are all intact, no broken ringlands, no weird wear or anything. but the rings were "stuck" in the ringland, like they did not spring out when removed. had to convince them with small screwdriver to break them free. that was my compression issue
the head got stuck on a studs and scratched it, so it was off to the machine shop this morning to get it resurfaced, hot tanked and checked out. just picked it up and all is well. head is prefect, there were no signs of burning coolant or anything on it. machine shop guy said that some weird fuel additive could gum it up, bad gas or worse yet, mothballs or sugar in the gas. he said to get rid of the gas which i will drain tonight. i had about 1-2 gallons left of sunoco 94 in it and put 1.5 gallons of sheetz 93 in it becuase sunoco was closed and I was trying to get in some trouble friday night. put about 30 miles on it and brought it home and it sat until i went to change the intake on sunday.
go figure. **** happens. i guess i just got unlucky, oh well. i've got good friends that helped me out and hopefully everything will turn out well. i'm gonna get it back together tonight and hopefully hit the dyno on friday!!

19.8 miles and comp is 205-200-200-205, i have about 30 or so on it now and it still burns a lil' bit of oil.
got some more opinions and they said possibly that i compressed the ringlands from detontation. oh well, new motor is in a rocking. hitting the dyno at 9:30 tomorrow morning before i blow it up

i just did a comp test on it with the same brand as my broken one and got 60-70-70-90, but by squirting some oil in there resulted in NO change which makes me think the rings are still good. when running the smokes pours out in "puts" like per revolution of the engine. i have also noticed that my oil pan gasket is leaking to the extent that it looks like oil is being pushed out under pressure.
could i have suddenly blown a headgasket??</TD></TR></TABLE>
N/m, I'm too late.....Should have read the entire thread.
