Finally, a Blow-Off Valve.... but is it worth it?
The title is deciving, because I know it's worth it to have it, but here's my story:
I have been running a trubocharged Honda Civic (GReddy Eclipse style turbo) since the beginning of August. It has run fine, but I couldn't buy a BOV because I had to pay back the debt to my dad.
So now I am able to buy one, but is there damage to the turbine or to the wastegate because of not having one? After I get a BOV, should I get a new turbine? Or am I just freaking out?
thanx ^_^

All i can tell you to do is check for shaft play. It might not have messed anything up since you havent been running it like that for too long. What psi are you running? If its anything below 6 psi you should be fine unless you boost in every gear no matter where youre going

Yeah, CHeck shaft play man. I would think not running a bov for a week could really damage something. Even when you are not boosting, your turbo is still creating some sort of pressure. a BOV doesn't have to make noise to be working.
Just check it out and good luck.

I bet everything is fine. Lots of stock cars run w/o BOVs with no problems. Put the BOV on!

grand nationals never had blow off valves, but being automatics, they never really needed one. but in the 3 years of racing mine, i got the turbo new after i purchased the car, running 26 psi with no b.o.v. i sold the car 20,000 miles after i bought it with no turbo problems. take it for what you will. if it isnt passing oil, making noise, or have shaft play, you are cool.
but having a car with a stick, i would most definately run one.
