final project... options. feedback =)
school, work, spare time (del sol). after this car, i'm going to buy a toyota camry~! now... i'm planning to join the darkside no matter what but the thing is, i need a little advice. any sort of input is appreciated. yes i've searched.
there's 2 motors i plan to swap/boost (the b18c is too freaking expensive so i'm left with:
b16a2 sir2
b18b1 integra Ls
i want to run around 250whp reliably, but able to run 300whp whenever. should i sleeve the b16a2 or just work the b18b1? those of you running the b18b1 have you ever downshifted into 3rd gear at 70mph? how does it feel? or will it detonate?

you should be fine with 250 hp on either motor without having to resleeve it and whatnot. just get good fuel management and someone to tune it for you.
yes it does have a crap topend stock, even with proting your going to have a much harder time making power up top. I say throw the LS in there first with the b16 tranny and then put the head from the b16 on the ls. LSVTEC turbo will def help you get to your goal safely, or course after you are tunned.
If you dont want to seperate the engines then go with the b16 because it will allow the higher end that you are looking for. You could sell the LS for the money on the sleeves for the b16, or keep it as a back-up if needed. Good luck on your project

i was going b18b1 but i can find a pretty cheap b16a2 that's why i changed my mind. with that money saved, i can sleeve the block so i have VTEC and thick sleeves. as for the ls-vtec... some mechanic told me i don't want that motor. i've never heard anything good about the ls-vtec except it has great low/high potential but too much maintaining and the head leaks. i want something more reliable.
oh yeah... know a guy who boosted 8lbs on the b16a2 in a del sol. that **** is extremely quick. stock internals
