Default New Del Sol Build- Swap questions

so i recently just picked up a 1993 del sol SI and i feel like a kid in a candy shop again. i 'm not sure at all what i want to do with it at this point.

All i know is i want to swap the motor(not sure what swap yet), turbo it and be running about 400hp as a daily driver.

i want to do some sort of b-series swap so the GSR tranny is a gimme but other than that i'm not sure.

when i left the honda scene the LS/vtec was the new thing, and i have no idea about the cr-vtec other than the basic components.

what are the pros/cons of each setup. Would it be better as a daily driver just to go with a built b16a or b18c swap.

Really i'm just looking for some advice on what you would do. Money is some what of a factor but not really.

b18c1 all the way homey. dont bother with lstev or b20vtec. that involvs work and more money. just plop a gsr motor in and boost it to 15lbs. you can thank me for this very specific awesome advise via paypal $568,000

really a nice decent set up would be a ls boost..ls has low compression and good for boost..if u blow it ls are cheaper and easier to find..

i would say do it right the first time. if your gunna be building on it dont go lsv or crv-tec. so gsr build ftw. stronger rods, bearings, drop pistons, head work, ect.

GSR engines can not handle 400hp reliably in stock form. 300 is typically the limit for both GSR and LS engines.

Since you are wanting 400hp and reliability then you will have to build an engine. I would recommend a B18C1. It will make more power with less boost, and it's head also flows better. They are more expensive initially, but overall I think a better choice.

I think 400hp as a daily is a bit much for an EG chassis. I have been contemplating the best course of action for my turbo setup and I have come to this conclusion.

-LS engines are cheap
-They are known to handle 300whp reliably in stock form with a good tune
-LS engines are cheap

300whp in my hatch will put me in the low 12's. That is a very healthy street car. When the motor blows, a fresh start is $750 away from www.hmotorsonline.com. Hell, I'll have one in the garage waiting to go in.

I would also make provisions for a nice brake and suspension setup,...could be important.

i planned on building whatever motor i drop in anyway, i want 300-400 daily with the option to go higher if i ever want to. whatever motor i decide to get it's gonna be fully built, and most importantly reliable. i have plenty of engine building experience, just need to know a little more about the swap into the sol.

hondaswap.com says its a bolt in swap, so im assuming i just need the correct mounts for a b-series. however as far as engine management for the motor i have no clue.

dude im in the same boat as you right now.
i have a 95 del sol si which has a d16z6 in it also
i have the same plan as you i wanna boost it for 300-400

for boosting i heard the gsr is the way to go because of its low compression. i was aiming torward the type-r at first but then i realized it has a higher compression and the price would just be killer.

so please help guys hahaha

the only problem is weight. as daily driver and only a daily driver (which we all know is punchin vtec at every red light) around corners at somewhat high speeds your *** end will be light as hell and all that fun stuff. with a small car that weighs under 2k and most of all the wight will be in the front from that swap. so if you want a good cornering vehicle stay around the d16z6 or y8 or going up to the b16 adn still get good hp and cornering ability.

a b18c swap is what like 10 more lbs than a b16 swap so i dont think its gonna be a big issue since del sols actually came with b16a3 lol

considering not one stock del sol weighs under 2k he shouldnt have a problem. 2 fire walls are heavy
