I use Castrol 15W-30 I was doing searches on oil and brought this thread back from the dead since I have mixed opinions about weights of oil.

10w-40 non-synthetic I change it every 1500mi or once a month depending on which one comes first.

why does everyone run something different? some guys run heavy like 15w-50 and some run really light like 0w-30? I dont get it, what are u supposed to run in a turbo motor? heavy or light?

5w40 during winter
15w50 or 20w50 during summer
a mix of 5w40/15w50 or 5w40/20w50 in between summer/winter
<-- looking into bmw 10w60 just not yet.. i just stay away from energy concerving oils.

Castrol GTX 5w30 changed every ~1000 miles.
I'm a little wary on switching to anything now, being the motor is stock, and is what is listed from the factory.
I've had absolutely no problems. When my new block is in, I plan on running Castrol Syntec 10w30 all year long.
