Exhaust questions
So im running a drag kit on 9psi atm. The dp is 2.25" Running it open atm and its loud as hell (sounds like a toyota truck accually). I looked at my cat back i ran for a long time while the car was NA. It was made by an exhuast shop for pretty cheap but i had imagined it was 2.25. I took it off and looked at it. Might as well call it stock exhaust. Was really shitty and the muffler was not straight through. Looked like a damn catty with all the screens and **** in it.
Question is, with my log mani, .48a/r turbo and 2.25dp, is it alright to run 3" the rest of the way back? I plan on building the motor later, and swapping out the manifold and turbo for something to make 400~whp. So i will be needing the 3" down the road. But ive heard that 3" dp on a log mani with a small a/r and turbo would be overkill. But since i'll just run it from the 2.25 into the 3" will it be pretty ok?
Btw, anyone know of a dealer that sells 3" full cat backs for a del sol? Ive only seen them for the most popular ***** like EKs and DCs. Would a civic exhuast bolt up to a del sol? Or should i just order the bends and muffler and **** and weld it up myself? Id like to hear from guys who are running a bigger exhuast than dp and their expeirences with them.

Just because it is overkill doesn't mean you can't do it. If you know definately tha tyou will be running a larger turbo, then going 3in might save a small piece of time. unless it is flanged the same and located exactly the same you are just wasting your time. You will have to essentially make a new one anyway.

With a different exhaut manifold theres almost no way it would be flanged the same. Im talking about just using the 2.25 ive got now and running it into a 3" the rest of the way back. So later I can just ditch the small dp and run 3" turboback.
Im highly thinking of making my own for the sake of saving a few pennies.

bump..
Doesnt anyone know or just to lazy to type a few words? Is it ok to run 2.25dp with 3" the rest of the way? Thats my big question.. I'll post later in the next week about what setups people are using. Reasonators, mufflers, ect for the best sound and performance.

Yes, you will be fine. DSMs and Toyotas do it all the time. I've personally owned several vehicles with 2.5" downpipes and 3" catbacks with no ill effects whatsoever.

Re: Exhaust questions (Wickedsol94)
i did that on my old set up. right at the end of the dp i went from there back with 3" to an apex-i n1 muffler. no creep or anything like that. just keep the 2.5 dp and youll be ok.

Its not 2.5". The dp is 2.25"
I think I'll make my own exhuast for the sake of saving some cash. I'll post later and see what reasonators and mufflers people are using with their custom exhausts too. Dont want something that sounds raspy.
