Default Anyone running stock exhaust?

Any running a turbo setup with a stock exhaust? Doesnt have to be the exhaust that came with your car but an exhaust or muffler from another Honda. And i mean with cat and everything. Just wondering if i could do it since cars that come factory turbo are quiet?

I mean you could probably do it, but who really wants to? Your power will def. be less. I mean come one..Don't you want to be loud and obnoxious like the rest of us with turbo'd hondas?

haha not for a while, i would rather listen to the turbo spool up....but seriously, i know it kind of sounds stupid but lots of things make me want to run a quiet turbo car....so anyone know if there is an actual problem with doing it, like too much backpressure?

Look into an Ecutout if you want to run the stock exhaust.

if you want any power get the e-cutout or threw out your junk exaust and upgrade. i personally went with 3" exaust no cat.

You can have a turbo car with 3" exhaust and still have it deep/queit sounding..(Well until boost hits)..1st thing is if you have a external wastegate route back into the exhaust,,Then get a fairly large resonator or possibly 2 small ones..And a decent size straight throug muffler..Also if depends on the size of the turbo you have ,,

I have a stock exhaust!!! Type R muffler to be exact, with 2.36 b-pipe, stock cat, 2.5" downpipe. I know, I know, there's some serious bottleneck there, and I'm workin out the kinks.

I originally had a 3" muffler and then switched to a 2.36 greddy SP muffler, and now I'm at the type r. The difference between the three is somewhat different...full boost would take a bit longer when comparing the type r muffler (but that's expected) to the 3" muffler...given the same 2.36 b-pipe, it would take around 300-500 rpms more spool time. I'm sure I'm losing out on a lot of HP, but consider the pros and cons listed below...

Pros: I can hear my turbo spool, I can hear if there are leaks, I can hear if there's detonation, I can hear my open wastegate at full boost, I can hear my blow off valve more clearly, AND living in CA, cops harass me less. Straight up sleeper.

Cons: Lose out on HP, um...anything else?

Given that I'm already turbo'ed, my car is faster than many mildly built N/A setups and such, even though I'm choking my turbo and not letting it perform to it's max potential...is it worth it? Well, I'm running a stock LS at 5.8 psi (soon to be 10.2 psi) so of course, I can't be sure if the more highly modified cars would feel the hp loss more...what do you guys think? Anyone out there running stock exhaust with a built bottom? heh...I'm gonna sleeve my stuff this summer and run a stock exhaust...I'll let you guys know.

same here.

my cutout is currently out of comission, and with the stock exhaust it ******* suuuucckkss!!! less responsive, much less power and makes less boost too. ugh. it is nice to not get pulled over though

the main reason i want this is because im using my car as a daily driver and this summer my gf is going to be in my car alot for some trips were going to take and it gets annoying...so other than stock, nothing will make it quiet, basically for when im with my girlfriend i drive below 5k rpms....what about stock cat, 2.5 piping, long resonator or 2 short ones, and then magnaflow muffler. will it sounds pretty low while being less restrictive?

I was running a 2.5" DP to stock cat and cat back. It will make decent power (look at my sig) but not nearly what it can do. I added a E-Cutout on my DP and am getting it retuned next week. BTW it creates so much back pressure it will destroy your cat and shoot flames after a month or so of driving. Got the E-Cutout and no flames unless I keep it closed with full boost. It may actually be excess heat from the exhaust being forced through a smaller opening and increasing velocity and igniting unburnt fuel but it is cartainly not backfireing, I know what that is like too

****, its still pretty loud with a cutout on. If your car is lower, forget slapin on a cutout. That **** will drag everywhere u go. If your stock height then your good to go with a cutout. But if your interested, I got one for sale 60 bucks ship.

Yea only if you are dumb enough to put it on the underside of your car, if your running turbo then just run a y pipe off the DP before it goes under the oil pan
