such a thing as a quiet 3 inch exhaust?
I'm going turbo this december, but I need an exhaust right now, since mine is all busted up. I was going to go custom mandrel bent at a local shop because its cheaper. My friend got a full exhaust there for $120 installed.
anyway, is there a way i can have a quiet 3 inch exhaust? like, having a bigger resonator or something? i plan on running a 3 inch cat too, if there is a way to do it. i really dont want to run a 3 inch exhaust on a stock b17 before i get my turbo on this winter.
if not, how would a 2.5 sound until i got the turbo on this winter? i am looking to run 10 psi tuned on a stock b17a.

I am running 3", no cat., and jusr a summit racing 3" muffler in place of the stock civic hb muffler. sounds pretty good. not like a ricer loud or anything - nice deep tone.
Try that out - or somthing like it. Then if its too loud cut some pipping out and put in a resonator.

I have a 3in on my turbo setup, 3in cat, 3in resonator ~18in if I had to guess, and a dynomax straight through, canister style muffler, also 3in.
It's not LOUD. It can get kinda droney on the highway, I've noticed, but I don't do a lot of distance driving in that car.

if you get an offset muffler, its is extremely quiet. we have a 3 inch setup on our turbo ls 91 hatch, cops around here who are **** about exhaust have never said a word. looks stock too.

amallick, whats an offset muffler?
hulkhb, is that still n/a or turbo?
so basically i want to know if i can have a 3 inch exhaust put on before i go turbo and it not be loud before OR after i turbo. i dont even really want to hear it too much on the highway, a little bit is fine.
thanks for the replies

3" exhuast on a turbo car is what most woudl define as loud, so 3" on a na car will be louder and sound like ****. Find a cheap alternative to hold you off for a few months until boost.

I'm not an expert or anything, but maybe there needs to be a comparision difference between a
boosted DOHC and a boosted SOHC
maybe one is louder than the other by nature?
flame on if you need to
