Default ever tried straight pipe on turbo street car?

was it too loud even with the turbo? open downpipe really isnt so bad on mine compared to an all motor car.

Yeah it isnt too bad, compared to a n/a straight pipe..What kindof exhaust are planning on running? That might have more of a say on how loud your car will be. I would reccommend it...more power=more fun!!!

I used to run a straightpipe. It was fine, not loud at all.

Now run off of the downpipe...HOLY CRAP...THAT IS FUN!!!

im thinking of running a str8 pipe too. no emissions here. but mostly for cost. perhaps pick up an axleback then have a mufflershop do the rest.

Yeah, no emission here either. I've been running open dp for the last two weeks, damn fun, but i'm worried about a noise ticket.

I run my car like this sometimes. The noise level is not bad at all. I have driven in traffic next to CHP officers and they never give me a second look. If you just dump it under the car it will be much louder in the cabin.

I live where there are no emissions and this past weekend I was driving around open downpipe and got pulled over. I dont think that he actually pulled me over for no exhaust but for forgetting to put a liscence plate on my car. luckily the cop was cool and didnt even write up a warning. just talked to me about how fast the car was and told me to get an exhaust on it and drive it around again.

i was curious about being able to run open dp. what is an easy way to do it? meaning driving to the track with exhaust bolted up, then unbolting it and running open, but doing it all with ease.

It's really simple. All you have to do is jack up one side of the car, and scoot under with a 10mm socket wrench. I figure most exhaust should be the same...so I'll tell you how I did it. I'd go under, and unbolt both bolts. Then slide the exhaust over and line up the opposite bolts, and tighten it. Look below:

You have 2 bolts, and two exhaust sections...making a total of 4 holes. Hole # 1 and hole #3 go together, and hole #2 and hole #4 go together. When you unbolt, you slide the exhaust over lining up hole #2 with hole #3...and put the bolt on. Do you follow? This way, you are running off of the downpipe only, but the exhaust is still bolted up. I was always weary about running with a loose exhaust hanging under my car, like I have seen some people do.

just wondering but can you smell the exhaust fumes if you're running open dp or straight pipe w/o the cat? i'm asking because besides pollution, i can smell the fumes after a cold start in the morning. i'm afraid the cops might smell it and it makes me nauseous.

you can also buy one of those butterflys you can put in your exhaust and theres a wire you run into your cabin and you pull the wire and it opens the exhaust up at the end of the DP so you run it open dp or full exhaust....i forgot who sold them......it would be cool to be driving and have some punk next to you and open up your exhaust, romp on it and scare the little ******! hehehe

I used to use this on my Civic when it used to be turbocharged (18psi D16Y8) - 2.5" straight out to the back, no cat, and open wastegate dump pipe.. it was fun It was also interchangable with my HKS Hiper exhaust, had an exhaust shop make it "swappable" - 2 bolts was all it took to swap between the two exhausts..
